Welcome To My Special Corner

Friendships come in many different packages.

Having a wonderful family and enriching opportunities,
I have been able to meet and touch the lives of many individuals
as well as receiving warmth, encouragement and friendships.

My Friend Tricia . . .

Right after my diagnosis of Cystic Fibrosis in September 1991, a wonderful friendship was formed because we shared the same life's experiences.
Although I do not remember many outings with Tricia, I have seen pictures of campfires, sushi-making and sitting on the turf of Giants Stadium in the Meadowlands for a Cystic Fibrosis fundraiser.

As she lived through her illness in her 20's, she helped our family get through the first few years of coping with cystic fibrosis. A wonderful role model for me as I now also take time out of my life to educate others about CF and Diabetes.

Over 10 years have passed since our last meeting due to cross-infection, etc., but I was happy to hear that Tricia received a successful double-lung transplant in January 2003. What a way to start off the New Year!

My Friend Dr. Jill . . .

Yet another wonderful happening of January 2003 was another successful double-lung transplant for Dr. Jill. I met Dr. Jill during one of my 2 week IV Treatments through my respiratory therapist at the hospital as we were both in-patients on the pediatric floor. Jill was patient and understanding, answering my many questions about CF and Diabetes.
Dr. Jill became my role model!
She taught me to reach for the stars and do whatever I want to do in life. Even with a chronic illness, Dr. Jill is a full-fledged medical doctor!

Mallory Code:

How can one person have in common with the same zest for life than someone I can call my friend. Thank you Mallory for setting an example for me that I can do anything I want to do. Sharing the same illnesses, cystic fibrosis, asthma and diabetes does not necessarily mean "feel sorry for me", it gives me more strength to strive farther than ever before. I sometimes draw my strength from you. You are my hero!
Good luck in college!

Dr. Quittell:

Pseudomonas here, pseudomonas there, pseudomonas in fake snow . . .but you believed I should grow up and do everything I wanted to do! I have and will continue to live that philosophy-- thanks for teaching me the early concepts of living life to it's fullest, it makes all the difference in the world! Thanks also for your patience and understanding.
